Single woman and her cats.
Professional cook needed an open, functional kitchen to accommodate large appliances, guests and cooking classes.
Opened up the space between the kitchen, dining room and living room, placing columns for structural support and visual interest. Custom finished cabinets, glass inserts, custom fun hardware, and in-cabinet lighting, plus task lighting - ambiance and function at the same time: she can see to cook, while it's not too industrial-looking for guests.
Achieve function without sacrificing style: the beauty is in the details: one-of-a-kind hardware, artsy storage, interesting finish on support columns; tie-in a large open space by using the same type of flooring; warm up the space with wood elements and soft or adjustable lighting. Use dimmers and sconces in multi-functional rooms, especially entertainment areas!
Built around her furniture!
This entire space was designed to accent her beautiful, Shaker furniture. (Note flooring, custom column, fireplace) By creating a space that looks like the furniture was purchased just for that home, everything works together and complements each another.
