Karen – Opera Diva Deserves a SOK

Persona:

Opera stars, Karen Nickell and husband, Andy Wentzel, their son and dog.

Problem:

They loved their neighborhood, but hated their mauve bathrooms!

Solution:

Demolish down to the studs, rewire, replumb and redo!

Both baths were extremely small and dark.  Moved walls to add space, added lots of lighting, windows in the INTERIOR walls-at ceiling height-to bring in a more ‘outdoor feel’, and full-wall mirrors to create a more spacious feeling.

Tips:

Small spaces benefit from extra lighting and mirrors to ‘trick’ the eye into thinking the room is more spacious!

Fun Facts:

Karen and Andy are both about six feet tall.  They wanted a tub that they could both use at the same time … a ‘tall’ order!  We installed Kohler’s overflow SOK (pronounced ‘soak’) tub – it’s the perfect size and depth, and makes a lovely sound as the water flows over its built-in edge.
